Ad Policy Infographic (Refresh)
Responsibilities: Instructional Designer, Content Development, Visual Design, Project Management
Problem: The existing set of 11 vertical-specific ad policy infographics on TikTok had become outdated, both visually and in terms of policy accuracy. As TikTok’s advertising policies evolved, some guidelines had changed or been retired altogether, creating a risk of advertiser confusion, non-compliance, and poor campaign performance. The design also no longer aligned with current brand standards, making the materials less effective as quick-reference tools for busy advertisers.
Solution: I led a full refresh using adult learning theory, ADDIE, and design thinking. Partnering cross-functionally with policy, legal, and creative teams, I updated the content, modernized the visuals, and aligned with brand standards. I used data from advertiser feedback and violation trends to guide iterations, delivering a clear, actionable set of infographics that support advertiser success.
Audience: Advertisers in APAC region

Process
To better support advertiser education on TikTok, I led a full redesign and content update of 11 vertical-specific ad policy infographics. These assets were originally created as quick-reference tools, but had become outdated—both visually and in terms of policy accuracy—risking advertiser confusion and non-compliance.
Applying principles of adult learning theory, I focused on making the infographics more intuitive, actionable, and relevant to advertisers’ immediate needs. Visual updates emphasized clarity, reducing cognitive load and highlighting “need-to-know” information first.
Using the ADDIE framework, I:
Analyzed usage data and advertiser feedback to identify content gaps and priority updates.
Designed a refreshed, modern visual style aligned with TikTok’s brand and accessibility standards.
Developed the updated content in partnership with Policy, Legal, and Global Business Solutions teams to ensure accuracy and alignment.
Implemented the refreshed infographics through targeted distribution channels.
Evaluated impact by tracking engagement data and soliciting user feedback to inform future iterations.
Cross-functional collaboration was critical to success. I partnered closely with Policy, Creative, Marketing, and Product teams to ensure the infographics met both regulatory standards and user experience goals.
Throughout the project, I leveraged design thinking by centering user empathy, rapidly prototyping drafts, and iterating based on feedback loops.
Finally, data-driven decision making played a key role—usage patterns, common advertiser policy mistakes, and previous support ticket trends all informed how content was prioritized, framed, and visualized.
The result: a refreshed suite of tools that empowered advertisers to quickly understand and apply TikTok’s ad policies across key verticals, reducing confusion and driving better policy compliance at scale.
